The Cultural Activities is one of the important departments of Karnatak Science College Gymkhana, Dharwad. Cultural activities include various performing and non-performing arts which are unique, and nurture the talent of the students. It is the culture hub for the faculty and students of our prestigious, century-old Institute. Karnatak Science College , Dharwad is not just an institute for home learning and knowledge; it also has a significant number of musicians, artists and sports persons who have represented themselves and the Institute at various levels. The Gymkhana provides all possible facilities, infrastructure and support, so that students can pursue extracurricular activities along with their academic work. The department of Cultural Activities conducts all the cultural activities of the college. Every year, the academic year starts by celebrating and remembering the founders of the College on 9th of August, immediately followed by Independence day celebration. The department has a chairperson a (permanent faculty of the college) and a student secretary (mostly from degree final year). The selection of the student secretary is done purely on merit basis, according to the laws of gymkhana. Soon after the selections of the student secretaries, the Inauguration function of cultural activities for the academic year and official welcoming of the first year under-graduate students is done (generally in the 4th week of August). Renowned personalities are invited as special guests for every function organized by the department of cultural activities.
The department takes the responsibility of conducting all National and State festivals, like Independence Day, Karnataka Rajyotsava, Republic Day, Gandhi and Shastri Jayanti, Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti and Founders Day, Siddappa Kambli day, Valmiki Jayanti, Kanakadas Jayanti and Basava Jayanti. Various functions are organized by the Department of Cultural Activities, Karnatak Science College, Dharwad. Many dignified chief guests,who are experts in their field, are invited to address the students, thereby enhancing the knowledge of students and motivating them to achieve something great in their life. It is the culture in Karnatak Science College, Dharwad, to honor the achievers in both academic and also non academic (that is, extracurricular activities) streams at the end of each academic year, by conducting the PRATIBHA PURASKARA FUNCTION.
